The Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Science ordered a national museum. The museum displays old national artifacts and looks to the future with exhibits like Spaceship Kuwait. The scientific centre is part of a series of projects aimed at developing the coastline surrounding Kuwait City. The architects of the scientific center created a modern building that still keeps the flowing lines of old Kuwait fishing boats. Waagner Biro was responsible for designing and supplying the steel and cables that support the canopies as well as the installation of the entire structure including the fabric. The canopies are supported with approximately 120 t of steel and 12 t of cable. The most complex structures are the doubly curved glazed, boundary lens trusses and the suspended lens truss for the roof of the central court.
